CIS London & Partners are delighted to announce that this year the ZIMA StartUp contest is taking place with the support of our company. This is a competition for the UK startups founded by entrepreneurs from Russia and the CIS region.
Our Managing Partner, Svetlana London, has been appointed a judge of the contest. As part of the prize, our company will offer an individual legal consultation to the winner.

We are delighted to announce that Svetlana London, Managing Partner of CIS LONDON, has been ranked as a foreign expert in private wealth law for London and Russia in the Chambers High Net Worth 2020 guide.
Chambers write that Svetlana has significant experience acting for clients on cross-border matters. According to a source, "she is always professional, very knowledgeable and willing to go the extra mile in order to deliver the best possible results to her clients." Another interviewee praises Svetlana’s "efficiency and depth of Russian law knowledge."

On 3 June Svetlana London took part in an online discussion on the importance of creating a single online database for Russian endowments. In her speech Svetlana focused on the international experience of endowment rankings and integrated databases. The discussion was organised by the Istoki endowment fund and Blagosfera foundation. Over 80 participants attended the online debate.

Women Who Inspire with support of CIS London & Partners run an online forum ‘Lockdown: from denial to acceptance to transformation’. Svetlana London gave a talk on the lessons to be learned from the crisis and how to plan for the future. The forum has provided an opportunity for the participants to discuss the pressing topics and share their experiences of dealing with lockdown.
In the days leading to EMERGE, the annual tech product conference, our senior associate Valeria Ivasikh was invited to coach over 500 startups as part of EMERGE U bootcamp. Valeria presented the most important legal concepts and terms of venture financing that new entrepreneurs should keep in mind, and answered the audience’s questions in a fast-paced Q&A session.
Svetlana London, Managing Partner of CIS London & Partners, gave a talk on the current lockdown measures in Russia and their effect on businesses as part of the BRLA webinar discussion ‘Covid 19 & its impact on dispute resolution in Russia, England and Cyprus’. The participants have discussed the effects of lockdown on the courts’ operations in the relevant jurisdictions and the future of digitalisation in international arbitration.
Women Who Inspire in partnership with CIS London & Partners held the cocktail reception at Bvlgari, London, to celebrate the International Women Day. The event was run for the Russian-speaking female entrepreneurs. Svetlana London shared her experience on a business contingency plan, the topic often overlooked by small businesses and currently in demand in light of the recent events.
In CIS LONDON’s latest workshop titled ‘Investor’s guide to legal literacy and avoiding costly mistakes’ we shared insights with business angels and entrepreneurs, members of Zima Club. Svetlana London and Valeria Ivasikh focused on the balance of power in a typical English company and described an array of tools that can help improve an investor’s standing, with emphasis on access to information and instruments of control.
