We have assisted a UK TV production company on filming of a documentary movie in Siberia, Russia. We have advised the client on a number of contractual, corporate, tax, migration, IP and regulatory issues including the obtaining of filming and forest related permits.
Our firm sponsored Russian veterans on the Victory Day evening in London on board HMS Belfast. The ceremony was a part of the Victory Day London project dedicated to the Arctic Convoys, the solidarity and the joint efforts of the Royal Navy and the Merchant Navy of Great Britain and Russian Navy servicemen, whose actions were an impressive and valuable contribution to the victory over fascism.
Svetlana London gave a talk on “Setting up effective structures for family philanthropy in Russia: a legal and financial perspective” covering development and evolution of family philanthropy in Russia, legal framework and challenges of funding long-term projects through endowing foundations and maximising efficiency through multijurisdictional structures confirming each subject on case study.
On 26 February 2014 we ran a workshop on co-strategy for UK litigation cases from a Russian perspective; enforcement of judgements in Russia and internationally; and conflict of laws from a Russian perspective.
On 24 February 2014 we ran a joint workshop with Withers. The workshop included practical advice and information on recognition and enforcement of foreign awards and judgements in Russia, the challenges of working with Russian and Kazakh clients as well as litigation and arbitration funding in Russia.
On 27 November 2013 Svetlana London gave a talk at the seminar “Russian disputes in London – for how much longer ?” arranged by Stephenson Harwood. Svetlana discussed the challenges that lawyers and clients face when dealing with Russian law in international transactions.
On 14 October 2013 Svetlana London gave a talk at the Whistleblowing Panel organised by New York State Bar Association / American Bar Association / Law Society at the session “International Developments in whistleblowing laws: cashing in on tipping off – will a US style of bounty rewards soon be making its way across the Atlantic?”
Svetlana’s talk focused on whistleblowing in Russia. In particular, Svetlana addressed legal and cultural issues, current legislation and perspectives for further development of whistleblowing practices in Russia.
