The problem of gender discrimination has been on the agenda for a long time. It is still a matter of great interest to media and society owing to its importance.
Russian news outlet Mel has recently published an article about employment discrimination which women face.
According to advocate Tatiana Titova, it is really difficult to prove gender discrimination in employment. “We need a more flexible approach to evidence”, Tatiana said. For example, witness evidence, conversation recording, polygraph examination, references to similar cases of the employer’s behaviour and psychological reports should be used to support claims.

As financial technology continues to develop rapidly worldwide, Getting the Deal Through, an international legal resources centre, has published the third edition of their ‘Fintech’ series, which is available in print, as an e-book, and online. The CIS London team has contributed by drafting and updating the chapter on Russia.
On 28th of February 2018 Svetlana London attended the fourth and final UK-Russia FinTech Working Group meeting, organised by the membership body TheCityUK. Svetlana, who is a member of the UK delegation, presented the results of the four working group meetings, which are to be included in the UK-Russia FinTech Report. The Report was presented to the public on the 21st of March 2018 during the Eurasia FinTech Forum in London.

On 24 March 2017 Svetlana London participated in the international legal forum “LEGAL GATES. Export”. The forum was organised with support of St. Petersburg Entrepreneurship and Consumer Market Development committee and others. The organisers’ aim was to bring together representatives from different jurisdictions and to offer Russian exporters an opportunity to gain first hand, relevant information regarding the specificities of working with different countries. Svetlana presented on the effective ways to enter the British market, and extracts from her presentation were published in a special edition of the “Expert. North-west” journal, dedicated to the export.
Valeria Ivasikh’s article ‘Bridging the gap between the UK and Russian venture markets’ has been published in the first issue of the Russo-British Chamber of Commerce Bulletin 2017. Valeria describes the challenges that foreign investors face when entering the Russian market and offers ways of how these obstacles can be overcome. The article is available to download here.
An international legal resources centre ‘Getting the Deal Through’ has recently launched a new series of annual reports on financial technology (‘Fintech’), which is a relatively new concept that involves a broad range of business types.
‘Getting the Deal Through’ developed the same key questions to be answered by the leading practitioners in each of the jurisdictions featured. The CIS London team has contributed by providing answers on Russian law.
