The CIS London & Partners team has attended Minsk Legal Forum that proved to be a new platform for ‘live non-legal communication in legal circles’. Practicing lawyers and representatives of legal businesses from Europe and Asia have discussed their views on the legal profession and legal business development in various regions. Svetlana London gave a talk on CIS qualified lawyers’ career and business prospects in the UK.
Svetlana London and Kulzhan Mehrabi took part in a round table organised by the Legislation Institute of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan together with Reed Smith law firm. The leading lawyers, solicitors and barristers have discussed various challenges of as well as approaches to developing new Kazakhstani legislation on the basis of the common law principles. Svetlana presented a comparison of English and Kazakhstani law provisions regarding M&A deals.
This topic is of a particular interest to companies and the government of Kazakhstan as well as to foreign investors, especially in relation to Astana International Financial Centre being established.
Our team has participated in the first regional legal forum that took place on 7-8 October 2016 in Voronezh. The forum was organised as a networking platform for lawyers of Central and South regions of Russia.

CIS London & Partners team attended the 10 European-Asian Law Congress that took place on 9-10 June 2016 in Ekaterinburg, Russia. This year the topic of the congress was ‘Law, politics and economics in the modern world: changes of the XXI century’. Svetlana London gave a talk on international and national legal business standards and participated in a panel session that discussed problems of international and national business regulations in the modern world.
Svetlana London was invited as a guest lecturer by the Law Department of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv to give a talk on English law and legal career development to the students and academic personnel. Svetlana presented a review of the main principles of the Anglo-Saxon law and discussed legal career perspective on the local and international market.
